How to Create an Audiance

To find the CoffeePals app in the Microsoft Teams store, you can search for CoffeePals in the app tabs. Alternatively, you can click this link which will open the app right in Teams.

If you can't find the CoffeePals app in the Teams store, contact your IT administrator to get permission to view the app within Teams. We have a helpful article on how to do that here.

Create a CoffeePals Team

We recommend creating a new CoffeePals team in MS Teams and inviting people to join this team. This way, people are only matched with other people who want to be matched. This makes it more likely that the meetings actually happen. You can however add it to an existing team.

Click Join or create a team at the bottom of the team list in Microsoft Teams.



Click Create Team.



Click From scratch and select Public (recommended) or Private.





Add a name and description to the team. We've seen it be called "Introductions", "Coffee Buddies", "Random Chats", "Coffee Chats" or, our favourite, CoffeePals.



Click Create

(Optional) You can add members who you know will enjoy being a part of coffee chats, or a test group to pilot the app.

Adding the CoffeePals App to the Team

Find the CoffeePals App in the Teams Store or by clicking this link.

Once you find the app, click the dropdown next to Open/Add then click Add to a team.



Add the app to the team you just created.



Ensure that team members can't remove the application by mistake.




Once the app is installed on a team, your CoffeePals audience would be created with all users who are on the team.

Managing your Audience

CoffeePals Audiences mirror your Microsoft Team user list, so:

To add a user to the audience: Add the user to the Microsoft Team associated with the CoffeePals Audience

To remove a user from the audience: Remove the user from the Microsoft team associated with the CoffeePals Audience

To add an admin to your audience, click the three dots next to the audience name. A slide out will appear allowing you to add and remove admins.
